Scottish fund manager is latest stock-picker to tap into the big-data trend

Aberdeen Asset Management has begun recruiting a small team of data scientists to improve its market calls, as stock-pickers increasingly look to add insights from technologies such as AI.

The Scottish asset manager is in the process of setting up a new data science unit, some five months after appointing its first chief data officer - and against the backdrop of an ongoing merger with larger rival Standard Life.
