Afghanistan's central bank governor Ajmal Ahmady has raised fears over runaway inflation and a currency collapse as conflict continues to ravage the country.

Ahmady, boss of the central bank, Da Afghanistan Bank, fled Kabul on Sunday after the Taliban breached the city, documenting in a series of tweets how he had continued trying to reassure banks and investors until that morning before taking a military flight out of the capital.
