AIM’s boozy birthday

The London Stock Exchange put on a brave face on 19 June as it celebrated the 30th birthday of junior market AIM — which has been battered by an exodus of listed firms in recent years.

City minister Emma Reynolds opened the exchange as confetti rained down upon bankers, fund managers and executives. Reynolds stressed the government’s commitment to strengthening AIM after halving its rate of inheritance tax relief in last October’s Budget and more recently discussing whether to scrap the tax break entirely.
