Soaring pay packets among fund managers and corporate directors are igniting the tempers of investors. A new survey from accountants PwC has disclosed that last year total remuneration per person working at an asset manager went up by an average of 18% in a year when the return to a UK pension fund was 12.5%.

The figures come as Incomes Data Services disclosed that directors of FTSE 100 companies saw pay climb by 49% in the past financial year.
