Alarm bells ring over huge pay rises

Soaring pay packets among fund managers and corporate directors are igniting the tempers of investors

Soaring pay packets among fund managers and corporate directors are igniting the tempers of investors. A new survey from accountants PwC has disclosed that last year total remuneration per person working at an asset manager went up by an average of 18% in a year when the return to a UK pension fund was 12.5%.

The figures come as Incomes Data Services disclosed that directors of FTSE 100 companies saw pay climb by 49% in the past financial year.
