Global private equity houses Apax Partners and 3i have led the $18.6m (€19m) round of investment in Sonim Technologies, which provides instant communication for wireless data networks.

Both John McMonigall, a director at Apax, and Robin Murray, a partner at 3i, will join the board of Sonim Technologies. Sonim technologies enable mobile instant messaging services, and allow communication with other messaging infrastructures.
