Apax Partners has financed the expansion of Alain Afflelou, the French retail optician, into Spain with the acquisition of a Spanish optician from Carrefour, the France-based supermarket chain.

The purchase gives Alain Afflelou an additional 176 stores, which are divided equally between France and Spain. The parties did not disclose the financial terms of the disposal, but the combined turnover of the stores is €76m ($87.9m).
