BaFin backs new German governance code

BaFin, the German securities regulator, has thrown its weight behind a new German corporate governance code that concentrates on investor protection.

The code, which is voluntary, was unveiled yesterday by a committee headed by finance expert Professor Wolfgang Gerke. It seeks to expose and address conflicts of interest and to increase investor protection.
