Bain Capital has dropped its pursuit of Fuji Soft, ending a bidding war with rival KKR over a Japanese software company valued at more than $4 billion.

Bain Capital said Monday that it decided not to begin a tender offer for the software company after consulting with Fuji Soft founder Hiroshi Nozawa, who aimed to take the company private with Bain Capital.
