Regulator calls out ‘rather foggy’ information sharing by banks’ prime brokerage clients that could lead to higher counterparty risks

Banks are not collecting enough information about their prime brokerage clients, the Bank of England has warned, saying it could leave them exposed to unknown risks.

Rebecca Jackson, an executive director at the BoE, said in a speech that its review of the sector had found “rather foggy” information disclosure by hedge funds, which could lead to higher counterparty credit risks.
