Barclays Capital has hired John Kreitler, a 16-year veteran of Lehman Brothers, to be global head of credit trading and the US firm has promoted Mark Ames to fill the gap.

Kreitler, who joins Barclays Capital as a managing director, will report to Grant Kvalheim, the bank's global head of investment banking and credit products.
