A UK judge has criticised Barclays’ head of compliance over his involvement in a whistleblowing claim in 2016, calling his actions “inappropriate” and “a surprise”.
The comments come with Barclays already under intense scrutiny over its whistleblowing procedures after Jes Staley, its chief executive, was fined £642,430 by UK regulators in May for his attempts to unmask a separate whistleblower in 2016.
