Barclays has hired a senior computer scientist from rival Goldman Sachs as it continues to make artificial intelligence a key component of its trading operations.

Justin Brickwood will join Barclays in September as head of markets innovation, a newly-created role, according to the bank. The managing director will be based in London and focus on incorporating AI and machine learning into sales and trading at Barclays.
