Barings, the UK-US asset manager, has recruited a new head of China from Vanguard and relocated its global sales chief to Sydney, as it weights its expansion plans toward the region.

Barings has recruited Shelley Liu, formerly the chief representative in Beijing for US index-funds giant Vanguard, as its new head of China, it said on August 21. It has also established a new Chinese subsidiary.
