David Harding, the billionaire founder of Winton Group, the investment firm, has given £100m to the University of Cambridge. It is the largest donation of its kind in the UK.

Cambridge said in a statement on February 4 that the money, which forms part of a £500m fundraising drive announced in 2018, will be used to “attract the most talented postgraduate and undergraduate students from the UK and around the world”.
