Decision, part of an ongoing review of strategy, comes as the model for US alternative trading systems has drastically changed

Having almost 40 stock exchanges and alternative trading venues in the US may sound excessive, so investors may be relieved to know there is now one less place where they can buy and sell company stock.

The Bloomberg-owned agency broker Tradebook decided to shut down the matching functionality of its alternative trading system, or ATS, in late July, as part of an ongoing review of its strategy.
