BlueBay looks to plug bank financing gap

The asset manager is planning to launch a fund to lend to small European companies, in an attempt to fill the hole left by the region’s banks

A former Och-Ziff partner and CVC Capital Partners dealmaker hired by BlueBay Asset Management to head up a new private lending business has said that the firm is planning to launch a fund to lend to small European companies, in an attempt to "fill the hole left by the banks".

Anthony Fobel, was head of the European arm of Och-Ziff Capital Management, Och-Ziff Management's private investment business until 2010, after joining in 2005, and was previously a director at CVC between 1998 and 2005.
