Emmanuelle Bury-Lucas has a theory. The boss of BNP Paribas in the UK is a still-rare example of a woman leading a major bank and having spent nearly two years finding ways to get other women into leadership roles, she believes she’s found an impediment to rapid progress — technology. 

Around a quarter of BNP Paribas’s 8,000 UK employees work in tech and this proportion is set to grow, she tells Financial News from BNP Paribas’s London headquarters in Marylebone.
