Apollo’s bid for Boots fails as Walgreens abandons £5bn sale

The blockbuster sale of UK chemist Boots has reportedly been abandoned amid uncertainty in the debt markets.

Walgreens Boots Alliance, the owner of the high-street business, had been in talks with a number of private equity suitors in recent months about selling the retail chain.
