Johnson mistakenly said gatherings of more than six people were permitted in the North East of England as long as the groups were outside

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has apologised after saying he “misspoke” when clarifying new restrictions on social distancing in North East England.

At a press conference on 29 September, Johnson mistakenly said gatherings of more than six people were permitted in the region as long as the groups were outside.
