Brexit committee chair slams waste of ‘time, effort and cost’ for UK finance sector

Any Brexit deal struck by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson will have “no benefit” to the UK’s financial services sector, the leader of the UK’s parliament’s influential Brexit Committee has warned, as talks enter their eleventh-hour. 

Hilary Benn, the Labour MP who is chair of the parliamentary Committee on the Future Relationship with the European Union, told Financial News that the City faces “complexity, difficulty, uncertainty”, regardless of what trade terms are negotiated for the UK’s impending split from the European trading bloc.
