Brexit gridlock raises worries over private equity fundraising

Almost a quarter of the respondents highlighted fundraising as the biggest challenge facing the industry over the next 12 months

A third of private equity fundraisers say their job will be more difficult in 2019, up from less than a fifth last year, as the continuing political impasse over Brexit in the UK takes its toll on capital markets.

About 33% of respondents to the annual Private Equity Outlook survey, run by investor services group IQ-EQ, said they expect fundraising to be tougher this year than in 2018. In last year’s survey, just 19% expected to fare worse than the year before.
