Calls grow for global regulator

Bankers and regulators speaking at the Financial Conduct Authority's first markets conference in London want greater co-ordination globally

Senior bankers and regulators have re-iterated calls for stronger powers at a global level to settle cross-border rulemaking disputes, as the US implementation of the G20 agenda has begun to spill over into other jurisdictions.

Speaking at the Financial Conduct Authority's first markets conference in London on Tuesday, David Wright, secretary-general of the International Organization of Securities Commissions, described the body's toolbox as "insufficient".
