It didn’t seem such big a deal at the time. Exactly 10 years ago, a colleague and I filed a short news story for the Financial Times about Chuck Prince, then chief executive of Citigroup. I remember discussing with the news editor that there was a pretty good quote in it. Neither of us realised quite how good it would turn out to be.
“When the music stops, in terms of liquidity, things will be complicated,” Prince said. “But as long as the music is playing, you’ve got to get up and dance.”
