Citigroup is scrapping its targets for increasing representation among women and ethnic minorities in the latest firm to backtrack on diversity under pressure from US president Donald Trump’s administration.

Chief executive Jane Fraser said that the US bank would “no longer have aspirational representation goals except as required by local law”, according to a memo sent to staff on 20 February.
