Mark McFarland has joined Coutts as executive director and global chief economist, based in Hong Kong. He will work closely with the bank's three chief investment officers for the UK, Asia & Middle East and Europe to determine asset class views. Since 2010 he has been chief investment strategist and head of the wealth management investment strategy unit at Emirates NBD, and has previously held chief economist roles in Asia with Santander and Swiss Re.
