Cumbria fund branches into alternatives

The £1.1bn (€1.6bn) Cumbria County Council pension fund will early next year make its first investments in alternative assets such as private equity, hedge funds and infrastructure, in an allocation worth £100m.

The council pension fund is also moving its global equities allocation from a passive to an active mandate, and is seeking a manager for a £125m brief.
