David Davis: No deal on Brexit ‘very, very improbable’

Cabinet minister's comments seemed at odds with reports of serious preparation for no deal scenario

David Davis: No deal on Brexit ‘very, very improbable’

The chances of Brexit talks ending in no deal "is not impossible but very, very improbable", the UK's secretary of state for exiting the European Union told members of a parliamentary committee focused on the UK's relationship with the bloc.

David Davis told the House of Lords EU select committee today that no deal was not what the UK government was seeking in negotiations with their European counterparts. "I am not one of those people who thinks no deal is the best deal," he said.
