Expect more shipping forecasts over the next year. The new Lord Mayor, Jeffrey Evans, is the first in nearly 40 years to have come out of shipping services and he is likely to use his position to champion the industry.

A director of Clarksons, the world's biggest shipbroker, he led a recent review of the sector for the government that painted a bright future for City-based shipping services such as financing, broking, law and insurance.
