Deutsche Börse has hit back at a decision by the German courts to ban the exchange from delisting failed penny stocks from the Neuer Markt, saying that the ruling makes "Germany's capital markets the loser".
The move is the latest blow for Deutsche Börse in its attempts to repair the image and reputation of the battered Neuer Markt, which until the spring of 2000 had been the benchmark for European growth companies. Since then, the main index is down more than 90% and a steady number of companies have gone bankrupt.
