It is 20 years since Bill Hodash stepped out of the lift on the 13th floor of a skyscraper at 1 Undershaft, in the City of London, and walked into his new office.

The Depository Trust Corporation, based in New York, had sent Hodash to London with a mission: to set up its first office outside the US and grab European market share.
