New Star Asset Management, the fund management operation set up by former Jupiter Asset Management boss John Duffield has recruited Sunday Times business editor John Jay.

Jay will be leaving the News International-owned publication to join New Star's executive board and work full-time on the development of high level business strategy. New Star said he will arrive early next year. Meanwhile, News International insisted on Monday that Jay would not be leaving.
