EU tests Thomson Reuters commitments on data codes

The commission was concerned that Thomson Reuters is abusing its dominant market position

The European Commission said on Wednesday it is asking for comments for other market players on the commitments offered by Thomson Reuters to address concerns it was abusing its market position in real-time data feeds.

"The commitments proposed by Thomson Reuters should allow financial institutions to switch more easily between different providers of financial data and stimulate competition between data vendors," said Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia in a statement.
