European banks head stateside with bond issues

Yankee market reopens for the European financial sector following ECB's expressions of support last month

US bond investors are turning to European banks following strong expressions of support for the financial sector by the European Central Bank.

BNP Paribas reopened the Yankee market - where non-US investors target the US investor base - for European financials a month ago with a five-year deal of $1.25bn, with Crédit Agricole following at the end of September with a five-year deal of $1bn.
