Europe's three top financial regulators have issued a joint warning to consumers on the risks of investing in cryptocurrencies, citing their extreme volatility and absence of legal protection.

The European Securities and Markets Authority, European Banking Authority and European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority today became the latest to add their voices to the chorus of caution being aired by global regulators.
