A consultancy launched by a former head of investment research at JPMorgan has stopped covering specific sectors due to the "harsh" economics for independent firms under new European trading rules.

The move by Lazarus Partnership follows the departure of its head of sector research Edmund Reid, who joined energy firm Centrica in February. Reid previously worked in the energy and utilities research team at JPMorgan.
