Fidelity raises stake in London Stock Exchange

The asset manager becomes the fifth largest shareholder in the LSE as the UK exchange battles to maintain market share

Fidelity International, the fund management giant, has signalled its support for the London Stock Exchange by increasing its ownership stake in the UK exchange.

Fidelity last week increased its share ownership of LSE stock from 3% to 5%, making the US manager the fifth largest shareholder in the stock exchange, after Borse Dubai, the Qatar Investment Authority and Italian banks Unicredit and Intesa Sanpaolo.
