Fund managers predict casualties in crowded market

Speaking at the FundForum conference in Monaco, senior asset managers say regulatory changes have made the industry expensive and that 'some firms will just wither away'

Senior asset managers say they anticipate a significant reduction in the number of asset management companies in Europe, with many firms failing to survive.

Speaking at the FundForum conference in Monaco, James Charrington, BlackRock's chairman in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: "There will be consolidation within asset management, but I'm not sure it's going to be through M&A."
