Six other banks miss out after Microsoft purchase causes Skype to abandon planned IPO

Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan are the big banking winners from Microsoft’s purchase of Skype, but six other banks picked as bookrunners will miss out after the deal forced the internet phone company to abandon its planned IPO.

Yesterday Microsoft said in a statement that it had agreed to buy Skype for $8.5bn in cash and the online phone company withdrew its IPO filing.
