U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta on Friday questioned how far he should go to limit Google’s monopoly in internet search, including putting curbs on how it competes in artificial intelligence.
Mehta’s query came during closing arguments in the final phase of the Justice Department’s antitrust lawsuit against Google. The trial dealt extensively with just how much new AI players appear to be whittling away at the search engine, the primary portal to online knowledge and discovery for decades.
