Government dismisses ‘vaccine passports’ to enter pubs and restaurants

Minister Michael Gove also says it was right to put London into Tier 2 despite its high infection rate

Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove has dismissed the idea of introducing “vaccine passports” to allow people to enter pubs and restaurants once a coronavirus jab is rolled out.

The government is preparing to make a vaccine ready for distribution across England before the end of this year, should it be approved by the UK’s medicines regulator in time.
