Government to consult MPs on ‘significant’ Covid-19 measures

Health secretary Matt Hancock said that urgent regulations could not be 'held up'

UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock told the House of Commons that the government will allow MPs to vote “wherever possible” when it introduces Covid-19 measures.

“Today I can confirm to the house that for significant national measures, with effect in the whole of England or UK-wide, we will consult parliament,” Hancock said on 30 September. “Wherever possible, we will hold votes before such regulations come into force.”
