Hancock imposes local lockdown on Liverpool

Liverpool joins the North East and the West Midlands on the list of locked-down areas

The UK's Health Secretary Matt Hancock has banned socialising between people from different households in Liverpool and its surrounding towns.

The inhabitants of Liverpool and Warrington as well as people from the North-Eastern towns of Hartlepool and Middlesbrough will only be able to meet other people from other households in outdoor settings such as parks, the health secretary told the House of Commons on 1 October.
