The new variants of coronavirus in the UK and South Africa could jeopardise global economic growth in 2021, analysts at Goldman Sachs have warned, despite positive news on vaccine distribution.

The emergence of new variants could impact on the spread of the virus, vaccine rollout, lockdown restrictions and global economic growth, the investment bank said in a 7 January note.
