Global funds set for official recognition

IMA set to create new global equity income asset class, which has already been boosted by potential BP decision to suspend its dividend

The growing popularity of global equity income funds, which are expected to receive a boost if UK oil company BP decides today to suspend its dividend, is set to gain a further boost by being recognised as a class of funds by a UK trade body

Dick Saunders, chief executive of the the Investment Management Association, said his association's members were discussing the possibility of creating a separate reporting line for global equity income funds.
