It was announced this week that Dame Amelia Fawcett, one of the most prominent women in the UK securities industry, will succeed Sir Andrew Large as chairman of the Hedge Fund Standards Board. This industry group was established three years ago by some of the largest alternative fund managers to promote best practice in the sector. A former vice-chairman of Morgan Stanley's European business, Fawcett adds this position to an extensive portfolio of senior City roles - which include a non-executive directorship at State Street and the chairman of the Guardian Media Group.
