UK insurers paid almost £1m a day in death claims during Covid wave

The Association of British Insurers published statistics collected between 1 March and 31 May, the first time the trade body has collected data from a single event

Insurers paid out on £90m worth of life insurance claims during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in the UK.

Figures published by trade body the Association of British Insurers found that insurance firms had received 7,000 life insurance claims to support the families of people who died due to the novel coronavirus during the height of the crisis.
