US president-elect Donald Trump has chosen the billionaire chief executive of investment bank Stephens to serve as America’s ambassador to the UK, making him the latest finance big-wig to receive a call-up.

Warren Stephens, who has served as chair and chief executive of his family-owned investment bank since 1986, has been nominated to serve as the US’s ambassador to the UK, Trump said in a statement on his social media platform Truth Social.
