It seems somehow appropriate that the company which makes Marmite should be responsible for the most divisive corporate decision of 2018. Unilever, the Anglo-Dutch consumer goods giant, has only eleven weeks to convince shareholders to back its unification under a single headquarters in the Netherlands.

There’s undoubtedly merit to a corporate cleaning-up exercise by the maker of Dove and Persil: it will simplify the company for the purpose of strategic M&A and remove some duplication of costs‎.
