Investors put pressure on cement companies to cut carbon

The industry is the latest to be targeted by those wanting corporates to act on climate change

A group of European investors that together manage $2tn has called on the region's cement industry to cut carbon emissions, adding to a growing chorus of organisations that are pressing corporates to take climate change more seriously.

The collective includes RPMI Railpen, one of the UK's largest pension funds, stewardship provider Hermes EOS, BNP Paribas Asset Management and Aberdeen Standard Investments, the investment arm of Standard Life Aberdeen.
