UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has refused to rule out a third national lockdown for England amid rising speculation that the country could be heading for stricter coronavirus measures in January.

“We’re hoping very much that we will be able to avoid anything like that,” Johnson told the BBC on 18 December.
